Maruti Suzuki is all set to phase out diesel engined cars – especially the ones running on the 1.3 liter Fiat Multijet turbocharged motor. As the S-Cross, the crossover is currently available with a single engine option: the 1.3 liter Fiat Multijet diesel paired to a mild hybrid powertrain.
The 1.3 liter Fiat Multijet turbocharged diesel engine that powers both the S-Cross and Ciaz gets the Suzuki Hybrid Vehicle System (SHVS) mild hybrid as standard. This motor makes 89 Bhp of peak power and 200 Nm of peak torque. The gearbox on offer is a 5 speed manual unit while a front wheel drive layout is standard on both cars. Ground clearance of the Ciaz, at 170 mm, is the best-in-class while the S-Cross also offers adequate ground clearance of 180 mm. While the Ciaz is known for its spacious interiors and expansive legroom for the passengers at the rear, the S-Cross is a big draw for those who want flashy looks.
